One Day without Shoes

I heart TOMS SHOES

I really do.
It's not good for my plantar fasciitis, but I really do love those shoes.
We've kicked off our shoes on April 5th to support their campaign of
"One day without shoes".

Not only do those shoes feel so comfortable, I love the concept of "With every pair sold, TOMS donates a new pair of shoes to a child in need.".

I remembered when I was a teenager that "espadrilles was a hit in the 80's-90's" And I remembered that my friends and I had matching colors to match. Haahaa. Anyways,the first time I saw Tom's shoes was at the mall and it just reminded me of those espadrilles. Then I saw on twitter and researched on it. I went to Nordtrom's and tried it on and Loved it! BUT most of all, I loved the concept of "With every pair sold, TOMS donates a new pair of shoes to a child in need".

Last Year was their 3rd Annual "ONe Day without shoes". So J.T and I walked the Streets of San Fro without shoes".

This year "One Day without shoes" was on a spring break again and the boys and I walked to the park, beach and was at LAX without shoes. And yes, I saw some people walking down the pier and LAX without shoes and we all smiled. Haahaa.

It's kind of gross haahaa, but when I think about the people especially the Children who does not have any shoes, it motivates me to help them even more.

Spring Break '11

Spring break started on April Fools....No, seriously. April 1st was on Friday and I didn't have enough time to do some crazy pranks for the kids. However, I was still able to pull some pranks on them. I told them we were going to have cereal on friday. Which by the way they were not happy because cereal day is only on thursday. Anyways, Jake wanted Cocoa Pebbles ( placed real pebbles inside the box) and JT wanted Cocoa puffs, and placed (cottons). The boys started laughing. They thought they were going to eat eggs and pancakes, but I told them nahh, you are eating the cereal. They thought that was the prank.

Friday was also Lunch with someone special and
Portfolio day at school. Paul, Tito John and Lola ( my mom)
and I went to their school and had lunch with them
and looked and read at their projects and journal.

We are so grateful for all their accomplishments this year.

Obsession Du Jour

I love shopping, shoe shopping even better. And when I go to DSW, I feel like a little girl in a candy store. (minus the sugar) of course.

I love trying on trendy shoes and looking for classic ones.
THEN, I saw These BEAUTIFUL Pair of shoes.
A Sergio Rossi pair of shoes...

They were in the sale rack..(shockingly), and it was marked 80% off.
and it's priced $40.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I almost died and it was in my size section (81/2). HOWEVER
when I checked the size it was size 8!!!

And European shoes are totally diff. from American made shoes.
Those Sergio Rossi's were gorgeous and it was narrow and ran very tight and small.

I've walked around the store many times with those shoes.
I almost bought it.After all they said "Suffer for fashion"
But I had to give it up when I got to the cashier.
Maybe next time, they might have Mahnolos or Loubotin's there.

Thanks Lola

My Mom came and visited us since Feb 3rd. She left on April 5th back home
to the Philippines.
We went to Las Vegas, went for walks at the park. shopped together,
she played reached for the stars and uno with the boys.
We went to Anthropologie while the boys tested the couch at the store
I miss my Mom already, we love her and shes the best Mom and Lola ever!
Thanks again for visiting us Lola. We love you. =))

Finally!

After months of planning lunch together. My friend Luisa her cute son Jake and I met at BJ's.
in Cerritos. Since they moved to OC. This is where our meeting place is for lunch.
I am so happy and excited to see her and
her tiny bump. ( she's due late Summer).
She was also able to share that she's having a ....... SURPRISE.
Anyways, Jake is sooo cute and I loved hearing him say "never mind". Love that kid!
He's too funny.
We talked and talked and we were very good and did not order pizookie. I KNOW!

Ever since living here in the U.S, I get excited duirng season change. I cannot say that winter is my least favorite since we live in Sunny So Cal! I would love to be able to wear some of those Winter coats...

Next month, Target is having a "designers comeback". The first time I heard her song Chasing Pavements and Cold Shoulder, I became an instant fan! She is Uber talented young artist. Her voice is very refreshing and and very stunning.
So, when I heard her on the Ellen show last yr. and loved the song. It's AH-MAZING!

The boys are addicted to the "angry birds" game. And I concur, sometimes while waiting for the boys from their Taekwondo class, I play the angry birds game. This morning on the way to drop off the kids at school, the radio mentioned about making a movie. Read here and check this out...

Valentines, Birthday, Birthday and Many more

What a very busy week we've had. Sent out lots of XOXO last Monday's Valentine's Day. The boys did not have school however, I still had to work that day. A Beautiful poem, red roses, lots of kisses and hugs make it "extra special". With V-day landing on a monday, we went to our family favorite restaurant Mimi's cafe with my Mom and brother.

Wednesday was my DH's Birthday. Since having kids, we decided to celebrate Vday with the fam, Birthday with the fam then a separate "date night" on a weekend.

Thursday was our friend Maria and her son's birthday. They invited us and met at her office, rode a limousine to "rock sugar" at Century City. The boys let their wiggles out while in the limousine and behaved well and ate dinner well. The restaurant was great and food was very interesting with different "pan asian" cuisine-ish taste,texture and very delish. If you love Cheesecake Factory and Grand Luxe Cafe, you'll definitely love this restaurant :}}.

Friday was a lovely date night with my DH. Rain, movie, popcorn and an awesome Mom to watch the boys. What more can you ask for.

What a way to end this lovely week. It started raining on Wednesday and what more can you ask for. xoxo

4 Months

Nooooooooooooooo, I am not 4 months pregnant. It has been a very, very busy 4 months in our household. My boys are growing up so fast that I could not keep up with the blogging world. I am sure everyone can agree that FB and Twitter are way much easy to access nowadays. Well blogging world, you should try to have an "app" so it would be easier for us to blog too. HA!

I will really try my best to update and post pictures as soon as I get my groove back. HA!

Two of our favorite shows ended in May. Lost and 24 were one of our many, many favorite TV shows. Even though I was a little "lost" watching LOST, I still watched the Series finale and even threw a party for my DH.

Having said that, I still have some of my guilty pleasures on TV, too many to mention :)) and even though I am Team Edward.
I've started and will also always be Team Jack!!!

I know...I know... It's almost end of the month, Eclipse has been out for a month and I am late with my Summer post.

We kicked off Summer Vacay and went to the beach with our friends

El Capitan Theater.

The next day we went to watch Toy Story 3 with
3 other families from Church.

We walked around the hollywood stars
and Mann Chinese Theater.

We were shocked we made it to Hollywood so soon. We went to Mann Chinese Theater to kill time. We didnt know it was Michael Jackson's 1 yr death anniversary and there were reporters and flowers on his "hollywood star"

After the movie we went to the Toy Story Carnival or Toy Story 3 Fun Zone.

Boogie Board

We miss the SUN! Jake said " I think the Sun is asleep". I know right!!! It's summer and it's been in the 60's here in So. Cal. But the weather doesnt stop the boys from going to the beach or jumping in the pool. They love boogie boarding this summer.

Spring Break, Fun Time and Happy 10 Yr Anniversary.
Ohhh, we had a FUN-Tastic time!
We flew to San Francisco,( Thanks to Jet Blue $39.00 each way)
and stayed at the Fisherman's Wharf.
We did not rent a car and saved us $40.00/night for parking (whew!)
We took the bus, cable car,muni and train which was part of the City Pass.

Baptism, Birthday and Valentine's day
OH MY!!!

It has been a fun weekend at the M-household. Friday night, the boys' GPA, 3 Aunts (Barb, Becky and Brenda) and 2 Cousins (Sarah and Tom) came to visit us but especially to attend my DS baptism.

We had my DS's
"Favorite Things Theme"
His favorite food: It was a combination of
Hawaiian, Filipino ,American, Italian and Mexican
Cuisine.
We catered a Taco guy and it was sooo good!!!

For the centerpiece I
wrote down all his favorite things, places, hobbies, games, family and
posted pictures too.
My dear friends brought some yummy desserts
that I did not even had a single bite.
Yeah, CUZ IT WAS SOOO GOOD!
My DS's cousin played the violin and
a friend played the guitar. They both did an awesome job!

After the luncheon we took them to the beach.
It was a beautiful day like 77 deg.

At night, we played one of J.T's favorite games 'Catch Phrase'
and Jake was sooo tired and did not want to miss the fun
he grabbed a pillow and slept under the table.
TOOO CUTE!!!

Happy to be 8 yrs old!

That week, my DS turned 8 yrs old
and we went to Benihana
for his
Birthday
We got home and he had a "treasure" hunt for his presents.

Pinewood Derby

The past few months
JT ,his brother and Dad
had been so busy
building his Pinewood Derby Car.
J.T called it his Ben Ten car
and Jake called it The Other Ben Ten car
and he even made it to the Finals :))

Student Free Day

I dont know what it is,
not complaining about it :))
but once a yr, they have a Student Free Day
We went to DLand
and
saw so many of our friends.
We hang out with Steve and Suzi and the boys.
We also saw Karalea and her boys, classmates
and other Church friends.
During the fireworks
Jake fell asleep and we had to
carry him from the theme park
to the tram to the parking lot.
Because he was in a Deep Sleep, we could not wake him up.
Of course why will he wake up when
Mom and Dad can alternately carry him.

Anyways, I think during the "hand-offs"
his other shoe came off
and the next day
we told him that
We left it for Mickey as a Souvenir :))

I love to Read

Before Christmas,
the Vice Principal at their school
challenged the kids
to log on the minutes they
spend reading books.
I cannot remember if she mentioned that there will be
a price for whoever reads the most.
Anyways,
The boys Love, love, love
to read.
And for being at the top of their class in reading minutes
they made it to the L.A Clipper Reading Program
they even met
L.A Clippers' Marcus Camby, he read books to the kids
and the LA Clipper girls
danced a little.

I couldn't be more excited to have Cafe Rio in So.Cal!
And the best part, it's like 2 mins away from Paul's work!

So, the day Cafe Rio opened in Manhattan Beach, my SIL got accepted at Hoag Medical Center. She got us some Sprinkles cupcakes from Newport Beach. Congratulations!
The next day, I ran extra miles to burn those calories. And it is sooo WORTH IT!

J.T is playing baseball for the Little League and he is having a blast!
Paul is one of the Assistant Coaches (what's new :)))
and Jake and I get to go to the Snack Shack A LOOOTTT!
And I get to work at the Snack shack so I can get my $$$ back.
We enjoy watching and cheering for JT play baseball
and he is having a blast!

Thank you so much for the email I received on Saturday ( in Feb). The message said "Our New Wedding Collection Unveiled". Where were you and J Crew (J Crew started their Bridal wear in 2005) 10 yrs ago when I was looking for a wedding gown. After 10 happily years of being married to my husband (April 8th) I still adore looking at Wedding gowns. Ann Taylor added on my checklist. However, even though I DO ADMIRE looking at these fabulous gowns. If I am a "Current bride"

I will not be able to wear it because I prefer my clothes to be Modest. :)) HOWEVER, this J CREW Wedding Gown came out in 2007. Thanks to Jcrew-aholics for this image. Glad she kept it for her records. I would love to see more "modest wedding gowns" in the future. Again, Thank you.

It was a fun dinner activity and
we enjoyed to decorate the tables.

Shopping

A couple of weeks ago after we watched Diary of a Wimpy Kid
I asked the boys if I could just "pass by" Urban Outfitters for a few mins. They all agreed as long as I stay Max of 15 mins.It was painful to shop for 15 mins.
Anyways, 5 mins. later I got a call from Paul and he told me we have to go. The boys were laughing reading at these books.

And if you have not been to Urban and looked at the books you should not let your kids in there. Anyways, Glad my boys didn't see ALL of the books. WHEW!
Paul said maybe next time just go to
Anthropologie.
Well, that I am not complaining about!

Received an email from WWD and NY times. Fashion week kicks off tomorrow. It's the last time they will be doing the show at the Bryant Park. Read here They are moving to a new location in Sept at the Lincoln Center. I can't wait to see what the colors, designs, shoes, make up and hair will the designers showcase since Fall is my favorite Season.

Post Superbowl

...WE DAT!!!

2 of my favorite Teams played for the Superbowl this year. It was a fun game of course. Our friends Mark, Tara and the girls came to CA. Mark ran the Huntington Beach Marathon. (Congratulations again) and then came and watched the game with us and the Malus. The Dads cheered for the Colts while the kids cheered for Saints.

One of the highlights during superbowl is watching the Commercials. And one of my best friends' (Hedda) husband (Martin) made this Gatorade commercial. It was a great commercial. Nice done Tats!

Read to achieve

Last year, the VP at the boys school had a program at their school called "Read to achieve" and they have to log down the title, author and number of mins. they spent reading for 4-6 weeks I think.

The boys love to read and as a reward they were invited to be a part of the "read to achieve" at school and met Marcus Camby of the L.A Clippers. Even though it was raining he came and read books to the 100 kids and the Clippers Cheerleaders bust some moves.

After he read books, Marcus answered some questions from the kids. Like How tall he is, If he loves to play basketball, can he dunk the ball. Really cute questions. Then the VP gave the signal and said 5 more questions. Until on the last 4th question this boy asked him this question:

Boy: Have you played at the Marriott Center?
Marcus: Marriott Center....No...I believe I havent been there. Have you?
Boy: Yeah
Marcus: Did you play basketball at the Marriott Center?
Boy: No

It was sooo cute. I am so proud of J.T, he was confident to ask a question. The boys received clippers flags and pens, and a book to take home.

Well, last time J.T went to watch basketball game was when we went to UT for New Years and watched the BYU game at the Marriott Center. I guess we'll have to take them to the Staples Center to watch the Clippers or Lakers. :))

Sping Cleaning has begun

Yesterday we saw Puxsawtawny Philly predict us 6 more weeks of winter.
But this week I have started spring cleaning.
I am enjoying the last days of sunshine this week
before we have the rain again this weekend.
Now, if only I can get off this computer to
really start Cleaning.

On his BD

He loves steak, chicken and shrimp.

We got home and there was a clue
waiting for him on the front door
leading him on a "treasure hunt"
for his presents.

Friday was Student free day
at the boys school
and we went to Dland.
We saw J.T's friends
from scouts like Karalea's fam and Mandy's fam.
We also saw and hang out with Suzi, Steve and
the boys.
We rode our favorite rides and had a great time.
We were surprised it was not as bad thinking
it was Friday.

We stayed up until the fireworks
The boys were tuckered out. J.T was able to walk back
to the parking structure
but Jake could not stay up.
DH and I took turns carrying Jake.
When we got in the
shuttle and we found out
that we lost his shoe!
Which happened during the trade offs.

The next day, Jake was looking for his
shoe and we told him
that we left a souvenir for Mickey Mouse :))

J.T is stoked to be able to join his first Pinewood Derby. He and Jake worked on their cars everyday and DD helped them use the equipment. While sanding, painting and finishing touches were their favorite part.

J.T's car was called Ben Ten. Of course he is a big fan of that
Ben Ten TV series.
It was a combined Cub and Boy Scouts Pinewood derby.
I was able to help Karalea make Pop corn while she makes
cotton candy.

The scouts and their
family and friends had a great time.

After the Cubs
Pinewood Derby
the Boy Scouts showed their
fast cars and kicked it up a notch
by adding
CO2 and rocket engines, etc.

Rewind to 2009
Last yr. our friends Mark,Tara and their girls
rang in the New Yr. in L.A

for the Rose Bowl Parade 2009

Fast Forward to Dec 30,2009
We left L.A on Dec 30 at 1:30pm
and drove to Las Vegas
we were excited to see Mark, Tara and the girls.
BUT
we arrived in Vegas at 9:30 pm!!!
It was CRAZY!!!
at least a million of Californians
drove to LV to ring in the NY.
Because in 2009 they did not have any fireworks
and decided to make a spectacular fireworks this yr.
they "SHUTDOWN"
LV Blvd.
Hence, we arrived at Mark and Tara's at
9:30 pm.
The girls were asleep and the boys were bummed and slept on
their couch. While we chatted for awhile. Thanks again :))

We left Mark and Tara's
and stayed at St. G. because we stay there
everytime we drive to UT we received a free night stay at
the Best Western Hotel. Thanks!

The next day (Dec.31st)
We drove to
Lehi and met our friends Jeff, Nana and their girls
+ BOY. Kai is sooo cute! Congratulations again!

We had lunch at my favorite
Cafe Rio.
It was great seeing everyone.

It was cold and
it just had a snow storm on the 30th.

We finally arrived my in-laws house
on Dec 31st at 4pm
The boys were stoked because there were snow!

First thing J.T did was to
make a snow angel (of course)

They built forts and
of course snow ball fights

We had a great time with the whole fam.
and Rang in 2010 by
talking,laughing,
playing board games and the boys played with their cousins
air hockey,basketball
and stayed up til 1:00am.
I was too busy and forgot to take pics.

Was the Christmas Party.
Because it was very cold and snowy outside
we had the Party at the Church.
We played football,basketball,
"Keep Away","I love game",
"Ninja game"
all kinds of games to entertain the kids.

Jake is the youngest of all the cousins.
But he did not want to be the youngest so he
called Kyler to join the gang :))

and it was packed, there was a long wait and the
drive thru is crazy!

We can totally understand.

We left UT early so we wont hit the traffic in L.V

Back to School and Back to Work,
and a Post-Holidaylet down for me.

It was a beautiful week.
After school, the boys and I went
down to the Beach.

Since the kids are growing up, our activities in December have always been a TRADITION.

The boys were playing quietly in their room
then they went to the family room

They started singing "Santa Claus is coming to town"

when we went to the Christmas Lights.
We rolled down our windows and the boys

Well, there is good news and bad news about my Christmas decorations this year. Good news is I truly out did myself this year with my Christmas decorations. The bad news is I had to take him down after 2 days. I had more people come screaming up to my house than ever. Great stories. But two things made me take it down. First, the cops advised me that it would cause traffic accidents as they almost wrecked when they drove by. Second, a 55 year old lady grabbed the 75 pound ladder almost killed herself putting it against my house and didn't realize it was fake until she climbed to the top (she was not happy). By the way, she was one of many people who attempted to do that. My yard couldn't take it either. I have more than a few tire tracks where people literally drove up my yard.

Kind of feel like I gave in to the man by taking him down but my neighbor did confirm to near miss accidents on the busy street next to my house. I think I made him too real this time.

So it was fun while it lasted...

Thanksgiving Trip

I have finally recovered from our very-long-never-ending-trip. Everything was a FIRST for us this year.

First Long Trip
We left on Wed. after work
and drove to UT all day/night.
We usually stay over night either at LV or St. G
but we braved to drive all the way
and arrived in UT at 1:15am.
We tried to make it all the way just
filling up for gas one time, but we only made it to Layton.

First Snow of the year
We left sunny So Cal. with a 77 deg.
and arrived in UT at 22 deg. (BRRRR!!!)
UT had a few inches of snow over
Thanksgiving and the boys
were stoked and woke up
and played in the snow.

Family Tradition Hike
Every Thanksgiving, The M family tradition
go on at least 3-4 mile Hike
before feasting for Thanksgiving.

First trip to Salt Flats
ON friday
After the Mother and daughter Thanksgiving Brunch Tradition
I know I do not have a picture of it.
We drove to Reno and
saw the other part of UT.
This salt flats were very interesting
Pirates of the Caribbean 3 and Independence day
were filmed here.

First trip to Reno
We stayed overnight at Reno
and drove to Sacramento the next day.
We drove past the "donner pass"
While we were driving up there
Paul told me a little history about the
Donner Party.
The Donner party was a wagon train
of 87 pioneers
that resorted to cannibalism after they
became trapped by heavy snows in the
Sierra Nevada mountains.

Driving up here
was very scenic and
also very scary. It was
totally different
drive from L.A to Las Vegas!

I get Cold easily.
I was bundled up during our trip
long sleeves, sweater,scarf and heater was turned on
I turned back and looked at the boys
without their shirts on
they said
"It was too HOT" for them
and did not want to complain!

First Trip to Sacramento
Ahhhhhhh, SUN!!!!!
I got so excited to see
the SUN and the beautiful
fall foliage in Sacramento.
Our friends Jeremy and Natalie
opened their beautiful home
for us.
Carter is sooo cute and I can't believe
how big he is now.

Home Sweet Home
1937.5 miles and total 30 drive hours
I love our truck and just tapped the dashboard
when we arrived home.
I cannot believe we traveled this far.
We traveled
Paul and I were so impressed with our boys.
They did not complain and threw a fit.
They entertained themselves, played, read
talked and watched some of their movies.
We had to save the battery of our Portable DVD
for the trip. But once the
battery was exhausted
they say "needs recharge"

We got home safe
and
our battery
needed to be
re-charged!

I have not shopped at A.T. (Ann Taylor) for the past few years. Until I noticed ( I am sure you all have as well) around Summer/early Fall, A.T has changed. There were some pieces that were "almost" similar to J.C. (J.CREW). Lisa Axelson who is the new designer for A.T. who's previous work includes Club Monaco, Ruehl and various Gap brands is known for her Professional and preppy chic looks. Hmmmm. So, why did I say they are almost similar? We missed our cousins and in laws back in ID where they went to Gma's grave site. We watched a video of her, prayed, and prepared her favorites, M&M's, Red clothes, Mrs. M's marvelous meatballs.

We enjoyed a very short trip to Las Vegas to watch the BYU-UNLV game. We met up with friends from UT, Curtis, Jenn and their 4 kids. The weather was so beautiful. We swam and went around the strip, went to visit Mark and Tara and their girls. So happy Emma is back home from the hospital and of course I enjoyed shopping at FAO Shwartz and the outlets (where else??)

I never thought I'd buy a box of tissue at your store. Thanks to my DS who was adamant of asking for a tissue to clean his nose. I am stoked to hear the great news that H&M will open in 2 days close to where I live. No more trips to OC or Glendale or Vegas. Unless the H&M branch do not carry kids line.

Anyways, another exciting news is

Jimmy Choo for H&M will hit stores November 14, 2009 with shoe styles ranging from $60-$200– a steal compared to Jimmy Choo’s $500+ prices.
And it is unknown which H&M location will hold which shoes. Even then you’ll probably be lucky to get your feet on a pair. Will they even hit the US stores? Will you be lining up to fight over them, or will you give this one a miss? I guess I will have to call my connections/friends from Sweden,London.

What a fun weekend. The boys and I went to Sea world with Hedda and her kids and Jinky and Sofia. While the Dads enjoyed football opening weekend. Paul went to TX with his friends and stayed at Matt and Heather's to watch the BYU-OK game. So the Cougars won! Yay!

We had a fun FHE (family home evening) last night for our Church Activity. As always Mondays is our busiest day from all our extracular activities BUT we always have our FHE Monday Night. And yesterday we went down to the beach to hang out with our friends from church.

...AGAIN!

Tell me about it! Am I a camper or what!
Well this time it was Cabin camping
in Running Springs for our Church's Girls Camp.
It was a 4 nights/5 days Camp.
But since I do not have enough paid time off
I only went on Friday.
My friend Luisa (Thanks again) drove up with me
and we were there only for 20 hours.
Even though we were there > a day
I had a great time and felt the spirit.

Oh I did SURVIVE!
How many times have I mentioned that I am not a camper?
Hmm many times.
So, when we watched the Family reunion

the boys wanted to go to the Family reunion '09.
And Jake especially
wanted to celebrate his Birthday with his cousins.
And we did!
2 weeks ago we went to
UT for Paul's family reunion.
And we had a blast!!!

Dear Simon Mall Group,

First of all, I would like to Thank you for having my favorite stores at our mall. Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie and many more. I am also stoked to hear the awesome-est news H&M will open in Fall 2009. I just cannot wait to have my hands on those great Fall colors and clothes. I just hope that there is also Children's clothes available at this store.

Now, I am just wondering if JCREW will ever be in your group? Especially at the mall close to where I live. I really do not mind travelling to another mall to visit JCREW.

I also do not mind having a ZARA store in your group. Like I said I do not mind driving to Santa Monica or Culver City.

But wouldn't it be nice to have all your favorite stores in 1 Mall? And by the way, Congratulations on your being ranked # 1 as Fortune World's Most admired company.

Fun in the Sun

It was a P-E-R-F-E-C-T day at the Beach yesterday. After my morning run yesterday it was so humid. Around noon the weather got better, we had some breeze in our home and we hit the beach after lunch. It was 78-79 degrees and the water felt great. We had a blast!

The boys love...love...love going to the beach and
they are not scared of the waves.

The waves were very big but that did not stop them
Again, we saw 2 dolphins

The waves got really bigger around 3-ish
all of a sudden we saw these lifeguards running
"ala Baywatch"
I called the boys to come out of the water
then we saw the lifeguard truck arrive.

Then the lifeguard boat showed up,
they were there for 5 mins.
Glad nobody was hurt.

Hike

I was called to be the Stake YW Secretary. There are a lot ( TONS) of activities we do for the "Youth", but especially for "Young Women" or YW or I love to call it Y-dub. In august we will have the YW Camp at one of the camp sites in Running Springs. And yesterday we ( the Camp director and the Stake President and the rest of the presidency) drove up there and tested the hike for the girls, we also looked at the cabins and the amenities where the girls will be playing, doing crafts, swimming etc. Last yr, this site was affected by the fire and you could totally see the trees. I was totally black and charred after the hike.

I am so proud to say that I survived my FIRST EVER hike in my life.
These women were so awesome, we are not as young as the
YW *wink,wink*
but we'll always be young at heart!
Now I need to go for a Nice SPA.

Mommy's Cafe

We have a set menu for breakfast during school year.

Mondays - Scrambled eggs and toast
Tuesdays - hashbrowns, yogurt and eggs
Wednesdays - pancakes and bacon
Thursdays - cereal and/or oatmeal ( their least favorite day)
Friday - Bagel, eggs, yogurt

On Sundays they will change the menu or
if I sleep in and did not wake up early than usual I always
use the Thursday Menu and change it to that day.

Since it's summer
we do not have a set menu.
They get to sit down and
let them ORDER from
Mommy's cafe.
BUT
my choices are of course whatever we have
and "if time permits"
kind of breakfast.

It also helps them to learn how to order if they are at a Restaurant
and also helps them
to behave not only at home but at a restaurant.

On Friday, I asked them what they wanted:
Me : Good morning at Mommy's cafe, hope you had a great night, what would you like to
drink this morning Sir, we have Los Angeles Spring water, TJ ( Trader Joe's) O.J and
not so fresh Milk
J.T: Thank you Maam, I will have O.J please
Jake : And I will have Milk
Me: For breakfast we have toast
Boys: I dont think your cafe has any more Bread
Me: looks for bread...oopsss - Oh, I'm sorry sir, yes
we do not have bread any more, we have Sweet rolls
scrambled eggs, yogurt and cottage cheese
cereal and oatmeal,pancakes,fruit
Boys: We'll have yogurt, scrambled eggs and fruit.

It's so funny how they even remember what we
have or don't have. Sometimes they say
"I dont think there's enough Milk left for both of us"
Anyways, it's always fun to eat at Mommy's Cafe.
That's why when my Mom comes to visit
I always have my request and when we go home
to the Philippines
I also have a menu set for my Mom to cook =).

What a fun 4th of July

We had our Annual bike Parade on our street

The kids decorated their bikes,
skateboards and scooters
they went up and down
the street and sidewalk.
Our boys had a great time!

After the parade the boys
chilled out and had ice pops,
and enjoyed slip and slide.

We had our good friends over Mark, Tara and
their girls with Michael, Dawn, Taylor and Bradley
for a BBQ.

First Week of Summer

Happy Father's Day

We had a fun Father's day weekend
last week. On saturday
we enjoyed a nice breakfast at Paul's
favorite restaurant.

Again the boys gave their DD
the "BEST POP"

SUMMER CAMP

Monday was first day at Summer Camp
and Jake was so excited since this is his 1st yr at Summer Camp
and they were both excited
to be together.
They already went on a field trip on Tuesday
it was my first time not to go
with them on a field trip.

Friends and Dinner

Cach and her family came to CA and we met them on Wed. at Jerry's Deli in Marina Del Rey.
It was the first time I've met her 2 boys. It was Cach's first time to meet all the kids.
(mine, Hedda's and Jinky's)
We all had a great time.
Im glad they did not kick us out
cuz we were all LOUD!

He was great and very patient.

The boys had their End of School Year
"not so" Slumber Party on Friday.
They invited 7 of their friends.

did not have any seconds thoughts.
I dipped it in oreos, chocolate syrup, strawberry syrup, caramel,
sprinkled red, blue sugars
etc...etc..
As they were finishing the
Fear Factor Game
Paul walked in the house
and told the boys that
he got some yummy desserts from
the garden.
Same thing the boys
said "oh, too much, we're full"
and they saw the dirt cups and grabbed one by one.
for movie night
they watched
"How to eat fried Worms"
and
had popcorn.
Nope, they were not full.
We laid blankets on the floor and
they watched and enjoyed the movie.
We all had a great time
and
yes we survived having 9 boys in our small house.
What a week to start

What a week! Here are the highlights of our "end of school year week".

I helped my friend from work - Trish at the Redondo Beach Triathlon. Even though I missed this event, I got to be a "part" of it. I was also holding "flat annie" which I will post about her next time.

I survived being the Room mom. I regularly volunteer at J.T.'s school on Fridays, read books to the kids, lead share time and fun friday activities, and also plan activities with for the year. Helped the Teacher make copies, check paper, staple this, staple that, organize this, organize that. And I tie-dyed 22 shirts. I know it's very easy BUT I needed to tie them really tight, do it in my washer and of course it was my first time doing it as well.

The 1st grade Room Moms organized a "tea party" for
the Teacher's Appreciation Week.
We made them hats and boa
and plenty of yummy treats.

We had a fun park day
"siblings" are welcome
and they got to play with their big brothers and sisters.
Jake esp. had a great time.

Thursday was
last day of school.

I made 22 DVD's
J.T's teacher is not coming back next yr
so I video'd the kids and they said their
Thank you's and Good Bye's it
was very special and memorable
for her last day at school.

Spring ( We're all in this together)

I made 21 Candy/toys leis
and a gift card lei for the Teacher
J.T handed out 10 Anti-bac soaps
to the Volunteer Moms
for giving
him an extra HAND this yr.

Before the last assembly,
the teacher and I handed out "special awards" for the kids
we each gave them a "3 cheers certificate" and a medal.
The teacher had to give the clue and the kids had to guess who it is
Teacher: 3 cheers for ______
for loving to read the most.

The awards were so fun!
She did a great job especially
coming up with 21 different awards.
She had "class clown,most organized,nicest,cool artist" etc...etc...
We also watched the DVD and
the kids loved the music and they were happy and singing
"Kids of the future and We're all in these together" Too cute!
And even though I watched this many, many times
I still choked up.

It was a fun yr for me as Room Mom and most of all
J.T had so much fun, learned so many things and made new friends.

Even Jake made friends from J.T's class,
which is going to help him a lot when he starts
K-this fall.
A few of his J.T's classmates asked for Jake's autograph.
Too cute =)

After that we went to the beach for our last day of school tradition.
(sans Paul)

Then Friday was
Jake's last day at school. I also
volunteer at his school by
reading books to them and doing
some crafty stuff.
Yesterday we went back to the beach
again and met up with Luisa and Jake.
We saw 5-7 dolphins
really close to the shore like 20 ft from J.T

As we packed our stuff, Luisa had a malfunctioning beach umbrella that had
to be carried and stuffed in my truck. Glad she was able to return and
exchange it.

Jake picked Islands for dinner.
And picked Movie night.

Today, we went to my brother's house and swam
even though it was overcast.

And this sums up our last week at school
and 1st day of Summer.

Because I'm a man, when I lock my keys in the car I will fiddle with a wire clothes hanger and ignore your suggestions that we call a road service until long after hypothermia has set in.

Because I'm a man, when the car isn't running very well, I will pop the hood and stare at the engine as if I know what I'm looking at. If another man shows up, one of us will say to the other, "I used to be able to fix these things, but now with all these computers and everything, I wouldn't know where to start." We will then drink beer.

Because I'm a man, when I catch a cold I need someone to bring me soup and take care of me while I lie in bed and moan. You never get as sick as I do, so for you this isn't an issue.

Because I'm a man, I can be relied upon to purchase basic groceries at the store, like milk or bread. I cannot be expected to find exotic items like "Cumin" or "Tofu". For all I know these are the same thing. And never, under any circumstances, expect me to pick up anything for which "feminine hygiene product" is a euphemism.

Because I'm a man, when one of our appliances stops working I will insist on taking it apart, despite evidence that this will just cost me twice as much once the repair person gets here and has to put it back together.

Because I'm a man, I must hold the television remote control in my hand while I watch TV. If the thing has been misplaced, I may miss a whole show looking for it (though one time I was able to survive by holding a calculator).

Because I'm a man, I don't think we're all that lost, and no, I don't think we should stop and ask someone. Why would you listen to a complete stranger -- I mean, how the hell could he know where we're going?

Because I'm a man, there is no need to ask me what I'm thinking about. The answer is always either sex or baseball, though I have to make up something else when you ask, so don't.

Because I'm a man, I am capable of announcing, "One more beer and I really have to go", and mean it every single time I say it, even when it gets to the point that the one bar closes and my buddies and I have to go hunt down another. I will find it increasingly hilarious to have my pals call you to tell you I'll be home soon, and no, I don't understand why you threw all my clothes into the front yard. Like, what's the connection?

Because I'm a man, you don't have to ask me if I liked the movie. Chances are, if you're crying at the end of it, I didn't.

Because I'm a man, yes, I have to turn up the radio when Bruce Springsteen or The Doors comes on, and then, yes, I have to tell you every single time about how Bruce had his picture on the cover of Time and Newsweek the same day, or how Jim Morrison is buried in Paris and everyone visits his grave. Please do not behave as if you do not find this fascinating.

Because I'm a man, I think what you're wearing is fine. I thought what you were wearing five minutes ago was fine, too. Either pair of shoes is fine. With the belt or without it looks fine. Your hair is fine. You look fine. Can we just go now?

Because I'm a man, and this is, after all, the 90's, I will share equally in the housework. You just do the laundry, the cooking, the gardening, the cleaning, and the dishes. I'll do the rest.
