Bee Stings and Baseball

This summer has been a lot of baseball. JT and Jake are always excited the moment Paul walks in from work. They get to play baseball and I get to run before dinner. On Wednesday, while I was fixing dinner and the boys were playing baseball, Jake was batting when he paused then Paul saw a honey bee a few seconds later Jake screamed "owwwwww!!" He cried and went inside, I checked his Right forehead and there it was 2 red raised spots. I was actually talking to my sister at that time when she told me to take him to the M.D. I told Jake we needed to go the the Doctor, but he insisted to finish batting first before going to the MD. So funny. We washed the area and went to urgent care. The M.D checked Jake and gave him a steroid shot. She also advised me to give him benadryl every 6 hours x 2 days. She also shared that me that she was camping and got stung by a wasp and in just a few minutes half of her face was swollen and she went to the ER and they gave her steroid shot. It is good to take the kids to the M.D if stung by a Bee to prevent any shock or allergic reaction.

She also advised me to have Benadryl in my purse during summer .

Before Jake and I went to Urgent Care
we saw the culprit lying on the sidewalk.

The Bee incident yesterday did not stop the boys from playing baseball today. We had the Mish for dinner tonight and they played baseball with the boys too. They had fun.

I almost got hit on the face
after I took this picture.
Easy Guys.

Home run
They had a blast!

After playing baseball we had a nice dinner at one of the Indian Restaurants. We enjoyed Garlic Naan, Basmati Rice, Chicken Tikka Masala, Tandoori Chicken and Shrimp Vindaloo. It was very good and we all enjoyed the food. The boys behaved very well and enjoyed the Plain Naan, and Jake called it Pizza without sauce. =) After dinner we played our family's favorite game - the Thimble game and had yummy Ice Cream for the last day of Ice Cream Month. They also shared a wonderful lesson about Repentance and the boys loved it.

Trendy Spa

I need someone to go with me to Alexandria, VA. There's a craze going on there and they have a trendy spa. It's the first pedicure of its kind in the country and it is $45.00 for 15-30 minutes with massage. Check this video and call me if you're interested. And I will treat you for a nice pedicure. I heard this is TOE-Tally COOL.

Belt Testing

After 6 months of Taekwondo, the boys earned their Orange Belt. They were tested with their punches, kicks, forms and poomse(routine). Paul and I were so proud of our 2 boys. They were so good and they have progressed very well.

I.C.E

Other than the 72 hour kit, I think this is the 2nd most important emergency tip I can think of.

Since 2005, Paul and I have programmed "ICE" in our cellphones. I.C.E - In case of Emergency. Actually I added "Aaa - ICE" so it is on top of my cellphone address book. I have heard of I.C.E - In case of Emergency, 3 years ago from one of the parents at J.T and Jake's preschool who was a firefighter. It was letter that British Paramedic Bob Brotchie promoted in May 2005. Then on July 12, 2005 he was interviewed on BBC Radio after the London Bomb attacks. He stated:

"I was reflecting on some difficult calls I've attended, where people were unable to speak to me through injury or illness and we were unable to find out who they were. I discovered that many people, obviously, carry mobile phones and we were using them to discover who they were. It occurred to me that if we had a uniform approach to searching inside a mobile phone for an emergency contact then that would make it easier for everyone."

You can also get the ICE sticker to show that an individual has established a communication protocol.

My ICE contacts:

AAA-ICE 1- Paul
AAA-ICE 2- John B.
AAA-ICE 3 - MOM
AAA-ICE 4 - M.I.L (MOTHER IN LAW)

Now, who's your I.C.E?

Motion Sickness

I just finished walking my patient on the 4th floor and sat her up in the chair, did not leave her until she was comfortable. Is there anything else I can do for you? - is what I always ask EVERYTIME I end my treatment session with my patients. I wait for their response. " I'm good, Thank you" or "Thanks, I will see you again tomorrow". Then at 11:42 am, As I was leaving her room, I noticed the blinds banging on the window, the walker was swaying. Then my patient and I stood and stared at each other and we both said "Earthquake!" I pushed her table away from her, moved her IV pole away from her, then I went under the doorway. Yes I did, she prayed and I prayed. The hospital has "rollers", at least that's what they said, and we were swaying like we were surfing a Huge wave. It was a very looooong 15 seconds. After the eathquake, I stayed in my patient's room and asked her if she was ok, she said "YES", Then I left her room and called Jake's Preschool, JT's camp site, and Paul's work. So glad to hear everybody's ok.

I felt really nauseous after 10 minutes. Down the hospital hallway, I talked to the Doctors and nurses and went to one of the patient's room and watched the news what the magnitude was and saw one of my friends who is an RN and I told her what I was doin, and she told me that she was inserting an IV and kept telling her patient NOT TO MOVE. LOL! We were both laughing. So, where were you?

HIATUS

I just want to apologize for this long post but I have a lot to catch up on.

Last week we decided to go on a one week hiatus from TV, Computer and Shopping.
The boys were like: WhAT?WhY? HuH?
We tried to focus on other fun stuff to do instead of dwelling on not having TV.
It was also the perfect time to turn it off since we had cancelled Dish Network in order to have direct TV installed on friday for the football season.

Anyways, the 1st day they were constantly asking us. How long are we going to suffer? So funny! We read books, played outside, went to the park, walked around the neighborhood, rode their bikes, played basketball, soccer and baseball. Before they knew it the day was over. Since JT goes to Y-Summer camp and Jake goes to pre-school the day is pretty easy for them. When they got home from school, they played baseball, rode their bikes, played in the backyard, read books and played with their toys. And never asked for TV since Day 2. Awesome!

Here's the highlights.

Shauna, Natalie and I went to Chicken Dijon for dinner

The boys could not find their camera, so they used my camera instead.

So silly they just love taking pictures

For Family Night,
J.T gave a lesson about being grateful and before he gave the Lesson he
did a hangman game for us to guess what the Lesson was going to be and it said
THANK YOU.

J.T finally lost his tooth, after days of having a loose tooth
I jiggled and jiggled and it started bleeding. JT said
"Mommy, you're not a dentist" so we went to see our dentist and she pulled it out.
Later that night the Tooth Fairy came and gave him some money.

They went swimming and enjoyed the beach as well,
Jake loves playing with his sea animal toys
and decided to take the toys to the beach, WHY NOT!

J.T enjoys the waves. Mommy when can I have a Boogie Board?
Someday J.T

We love going to the beach.

Ever since we bought this house
it had this huge old school satellite dish on the roof. Like from the 80's.
So finally on Sat. one of the guys who installed our Direct TV
asked Paul if he could take the big dish to recycle. Take it PLEASE!!!!

Going....

going....

Gone!

Boys will be boys

Enjoyed the park
the slide
rode their bikes
and let their wiggles out.

I took the boys to a Birthday Party.

On Saturdays, We give the boys 6 tokens . (1 token /day, 1 tv show /token) If they misbehave, do not listen to Daddy or Mommy or if they are naughty, they lose 1 token. They can earn more by cleaning their rooms, doing the assigned errands and doing homework on time.
So, on Sat, after the TV Hiatus, we told them that if they clean their room, they will earn their tokens back and get to watch TV.
Their Reply:
We'll clean the room, donate some toys, we don't need to watch TV, let's just play baseball.
NICE!

Yesterday I went to Shauna's and we were just talking how we were on a TV/computer hiatus . (Paul and I read our email and news at work). Shauna said that her daughter did not have any TV last week either. Anyways, after a couple of days, she never asked her about TV. We were just talking how we should hold off TV for the rest of the Summer.
hmmm.

I was also on a Shopping Hiatus---> ahhhhhh!!!!I was so good! Paul went grocery shopping last week. Thanks to my friend Hedda for buying something for me at JCREW. does that count for Shopping Hiatus?

Oh, I cannot wait to go to Nordstrom for their Anniv. Sale, JCREW and Anthopologie.

Jewelry

We have necklaces, earrings, rings, bracelets, anklets, toe rings, lip rings, nose rings, brow rings, etc. What about Eye Jewelry, anyone?
This jewelry is attached to a contact lens. Ouch.

Relay for Life

Luminaria on the stands

After Natalie's Baby Shower the boys and I went down to Redondo Union HS and participated in the Relay for Life. We've also participated in this relay for life last month when we were in UT. We told them about the people who were sick with Cancer. We thought and remembered about their cousin Hampton and my MIL who was diagnosed in May with Stomach CA, and all of our neighbors and friends with cancer as well. Anyways, we walked 5 laps around the track and the boys were done. They played bean bag toss at one of the other tents, we watched kids play football and basketball. Many people ran, walked and walked with their wagons too.

One of my favorite signs
Not only does this apply to Cancer
but to everything!

Jake is a good photographer

It's a Jungle Safari

That's what the boys said when they helped me look for some of their "Jungle/Safari" animals for Natalie's Safari Baby shower. Shauna, Suzi and I had a great time planning it and putting it together.
There were snakes, bullfrogs, tigers, lions ,monkeys, At one point Mowgli was there but I had to put him back inside the bag. There were beautiful papers from zebra prints to giraffes, lizards, reptiles, snakes, etc.. etc...
